English Teacher
I am a 1988 graduate of Perryville High School, and I attended college at UALR and UCA.
This is my first year teaching public school. However, I have five years’ teaching experience at the college level at UCA and UACCM. At UCA, I taught Comp 1, Comp 2, and Technical Writing. At UACCM, I taught one year of Comp 1 and later taught Academic Achievement Composition.
I also have 25+ years’ experience as a technical writer for large corporations, such as ALLTEL Information Services, ALLTEL Communications, HP Enterprise Services, and DXC Technology. I have written banking software training manuals, insurance policy, and a lot of other things in between.
I have an extensive background in technology and have been a software beta tester prior to rollout and implementation.
I have been married to Michael Pote for almost 15 years, and we have three adopted boys now ages 18 (2022 graduate), 17 (junior), and 14 (freshman). Two of our boys are currently enrolled at PHS, and I’m excited to share this experience with them.
We live in a zoo basically – we have rescued seven cats – yes, seven; and we are currently fostering our niece’s dog Jake until she finds a place where she can have him herself.
I love to write and self-published a children’s book in 2019. It’s the first in a series, and I’m currently working on Book #2.
I also enjoy macro photography (taking pictures of small things and making them large – like bugs and spiders). I’m also teaching myself to sketch and draw, and I will randomly sign up for online tech trainings if I’m feeling bored.
